I had my Friday dinner at a coffeeshop in Bukit Batok. It was Wanton Mee for me and the popular Fried Hokkien Mee for bf. According to bf, the standard has dropped and is not comparable with his preferred old style stall in Tanglin Halt. Beside the coffeeshop, there were durian stalls where I couldn't resist the aromatic temptation from. So I bought one to eat while still sitting in the coffeeshop.
Speaking of durians, I encountered some inconsiderate people while watching a movie in West Mall on Saturday. They, whom I think was sitting behind my row, smuggled in durians or durian pastries into the cinema and ate in. The smell was strong and even as a durian-lover myself, I found it unpleasant and disturbing. I felt sorry for those who couldn't stand durians. Hopefully, they cared enough to dispose their litters so as not to leave a pungent smell.
And of course, this incident made me recall Old Phang Kee. Failing to empathise, he had always returned to office from lunch with a plastic bag of durians. It's not for sharing though, it's for safe-keeping until after work when he can bring them back for his wife. :S
